Uniform

Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and helps everyone feel part of the group. Our uniform consists of a sweatshirt that you can sew badges on and a coloured scarf or ‘necker’ to represent your local group. There are lots of other optional accessories you can wear such as hats, hoodies, trousers or shorts.

Scouts uniform

A uniform can either be bought from our online shop – Scout Store – or from a local supplier. If you’re not sure where to start, leaders can give you more information about what to buy and where to buy it. They may even know if someone is selling a uniform second hand. There are grants available to help you buy a uniform, ask your leader for more details.

Trousers

Scouts and Explorers only are required to wear navy blue cargo pants along with their Scout shirt to our weekly meetings, activities, camps and trips. We do not necessarily expect all parents to buy branded Scout Store branded trousers, as long as they are Navy blue they can be purchased from any shop or supermarket to fit your budget.

For those moving from Scouts into Explorers the same trousers are worn in both sections. Please speak to any leader if you need any help

Costs

Each group charges a fee (called subscriptions or subs) to cover the costs of running regular meetings – which covers venue hire, insurances and materials for activities. There are sometimes extra charges for special activities, camps and events. We try to keep our subs as low as possible so that anyone can come to Scouts. If you need help paying subs, please speak to your leader.
